🌿 6-Day Assam Adventure Itinerary
Ideal Season: November – April
Weather: 16–28°C (pleasant days, cool mornings)
Highlights: Kamakhya Temple, Brahmaputra riverfront, Kaziranga National Park safari, Sivasagar’s Ahom heritage, Golden Pagoda and Bogibeel Bridge.
🌸 Day 1 – Arrival in Guwahati & Temple Trails (Early Morning arrival)
Arrival: Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU), Guwahati.
Transfer: 20 km | 45 mins to city.
Activities:
Visit Kamakhya Temple, one of India’s most revered Shakti Peeths. Pre-booked entry pass required to join shorter queue.
Explore Umananda Temple (on Peacock Island, ferry from Uzan Bazaar).
Visit Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra for Assamese culture & crafts.
Optional sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River.
Food: Enjoy Assamese thali at Heritage Khorikaa.
Stay: Overnight in Guwahati (Hotel Vivanta / Gateway / Mid-range homestay).

🐘 Day 2 – Guwahati → Kaziranga National Park
Distance: 195 km | 4.5–5 hrs drive via NH27.
Activities:
Depart early (7 AM) from Guwahati.
En route tea gardens & Assamese countryside views.
Afternoon: Visit Kaziranga Orchid & Biodiversity Park (largest orchid collection in NE India).
Evening cultural folk show (Bihu & bamboo dance).
Stay: Jungle lodge or resort near Central Range (Iora, Diphlu River Lodge, Infinity).
Food: Local cuisine at resort – fish tenga, bamboo shoot curry, payash.
Tip: Book next morning’s safari permits in advance (limited availability).
🦏 Day 3 – Kaziranga Safari → Majuli Island
Morning Safari:
Jeep Safari (6:30 AM) or Elephant Safari (5:30 AM) at Central Range (Kohora).
Spot one-horned rhino, elephants, swamp deer & migratory birds.Return to lodge for Breakfast & depart around 10:00 AM for Nimatighat (2 hrs).
Ferry to Majuli Island (1 hr across Brahmaputra).
Visit Auniati & Samaguri Satras (mask-making and Vaishnavite monasteries).
Explore Mishing tribal villages & enjoy sunset by the river.
Stay: Eco-cottage or homestay
Food: Local Assamese & Mishing dishes (smoked fish, rice beer)
Tip: Last ferry from Nimatighat 4 PM; check timings in advance.
🌉 Day 4 – Majuli → Sivasagar → Dibrugarh
Distance: 190 km | 5–6 hrs (incl. ferry return).
Route: Majuli – Kamalabari Ghat – Jorhat – Sivasagar – Dibrugarh.
Activities:
Morning ferry back to Nimatighat (7:30–8 AM).
Drive to Sivasagar (2.5 hrs).
Explore Ahom heritage – Rang Ghar, Talatal Ghar, Sivadol Temple & Joy Sagar Lake.
Lunch stop in Sivasagar (local Assamese cuisine).
Continue to Dibrugarh (2 hrs).
Evening: Tea estate walk or sunset by Brahmaputra
Stay: Dibrugarh, Heritage tea bungalow (Mancotta Heritage / Tea County).
Food: Assamese dinner or Continental at bungalow.
Tip: Coordinate ferry timings for smooth travel to Dibrugarh before dark.
🏯 Day 5 – Dibrugarh → Namsai Golden Pagoda Excursion
Activities:
Depart early (6:30 AM).
Drive through tea country and enter Arunachal Pradesh at Dirak Gate.
Visit Namsai Golden Pagoda (Kongmu Kham) – a stunning Theravada Buddhist temple complex with golden spires and serene gardens.
Explore monastery grounds, Buddha statue, and nearby local craft stalls.
Return drive to Dibrugarh by 4:30–5 PM.
Evening leisure – tea garden walk or local dinner.
Stay: Same heritage bungalow / hotel in Dibrugarh.
Food: Try Burmese-influenced cuisine at local cafés or traditional Assamese dinner.
Tip: Carry valid ID; short Arunachal entry pass may be required (issued on spot at Dirak Gate).
✈️ Day 6 – Bogibeel Bridge Morning Tour & Departure
Activities:
Early breakfast and short drive to Bogibeel Bridge (20 km | 40 mins).
Walk or drive across India’s longest rail-cum-road bridge; enjoy Brahmaputra views.
Optional quick drive toward Ruksin viewpoint (Arunachal border).
Return to Dibrugarh by 11:30 AM for lunch.
Transfer to Dibrugarh Airport (15 km | 30 mins).
Catch afternoon flight (post 1:00 PM).
Food Tip: Enjoy Assamese pitha or laru with tea before your flight.
Tip: Start by 7:30 AM for a relaxed bridge visit and on-time airport arrival.

Avoid Majuli during Summer - heavy rainfall
Safari Costs: Jeep Safari ₹2,500–3,500 per person; Elephant Safari ₹1,500–2,000 (book 1 day before).
Cash: Carry ₹5,000–₹10,000 (limited ATMs in Kaziranga).
Network: Jio & Airtel strongest.
Permits: Short ILP may be needed at Dirak Gate (for Namsai).
Safety: Early morning drives preferred; fog common till 8 AM in winter.
